Love of Christianty

As I think on the past week, I've been looking at verses in 1 Corinthians and Proverbs.  The verses talk about guarding and staying strong and confident in faith, and looking to the future.  This is something i've been trying to work on more and more.  I've also been listening to different songs that I love doing for worship.  The Holy Spirit really worked on the youth this past weekend.  Just the love in the room at the youth winter retreat was so huge and hard to explain.  Just being in God's presence and singing about his love for us.  He is our God above everything and he can't be taken away from us ever!
I was very upset that we didn't have class on wednesday.  I don't even know what to write in this blog because I missed the class that I love!  It's very sad but I'm hoping we have class this wednesday!
The sermon over the weekend, "That First Thing You Said: Dream Again" was just fantastic.  I realized that I need to learn to take the compliments I get from people.  We need to learn to give and receive.  I can't wait to see however what future sermons are and what we learn in class!  Amen!

Christianity vs. Atheism??

So, in our previous class of Life Formations we looked at how people look at certain things.  Looking on things like punishment and just a many other words and how people perceive things is just remarkable.  I don't understand how humanists think sometimes.  Why can' people just read the Bible, trust an have faith in God and be Christian?  It makes me so mad how people complain about things but don't take action to fix it.  That is actually though currently something I'm working on right now and this class made me think about that.
It is so sad to see that picture of the young child and it's predator.  I saw it at Youth Convention last year when I went with my church youth as a chaperone.  I never thought i'd see it again then Al showed us the picture.  Why people let things happen when they can fix the problem is beyond me.  However some people are just lazy or scared to step out of their comfort zone.
I love in every class and through Mere Christianity some of C.S. Lewis's quotes.  It is just remarkable how visioned he is!!
The past week and weekend have been so busy again with Youth Winter Retreat helping out.  The Holy Spirit radically moved this past weekend showing those students and leaders their identity and that they are all a part of God's family in which we need to further His Kingdom!  I'm still confused as to how atheists can say they don't believe in God.  If there isn't God, then how do you think everything was created?  Creation ex-nihilo?  Created out of nothing just by nothing?  No there is only one and true God the Father who created us and everything around us...so have faith!
I also can't wait for next class!!

*Two divisions for religions...which one do you believe?
Do you believe that God is beyond good and evil?  We humans call one thing good and another thing bad. or A God who takes sides, who loves love and hates hatred.  Who wants us to behave in one way and not in another.:
   Pantheism:
-God is beyond good and evil, God is identical to universe & nature, Developed by Hegel Prussian philosopher.
   Christianity:
-God is definitely good, God made the universe like a man composing a tune, God is separate from the world & things in the world contrary to His will.
**If the whole universe has no meaning, we should never have found out that it has no meaning; just as if there were no light in the universe and therefore no creatures with eyes, we should never know it was dark...

***Read Isaiah - man of unclean lips, coal, etc***
   Dualism:
-Two independent forces, One good & one bad, This universe is the battlefield in which they fight it out.
   Christianity:
-Ultimate God & fallen angel, Evil is a parasite not an original thing, Universe is at war but more like a civil war; a rebellion
*Perfect Penitent/ lunatic.evil.true

"Laying down your arms, surrendering, saying you're sorry, realizing that you have been wrong track and getting ready to start life over again from the ground floor..." -C.S. Lewis
The restart formula:
 What is Christianity.

"Lead Me"

So, as the past few days unfolded i've learned that This generation is in need of prayer, focus and just knowing God loves us all.  This past saturday, GMC had the privelage of going to PennDel Winter Retreat at the Philip Bongiornio Conference Center in Carlisle, PA.

It was a fantastic experience which I was never able to go to as a teen.  The speaker spoke on "Purity" and then on "Who Am I" in Christ.  What I learned is that purity isn't just about the 3 letter word teens giggle about all the time.  It's much more than that.  Purity is also living as best of a God filled life as you can.  It's can be defined as the way we talk, the way we dress, the way we live, the way we act, etc.  Who am I in Christ?  Our true identity is found in Christ, that is where our real name is.  Our identity in Christ is our name that God has given us.  It's not the names that people call other people, especially in a teen setting.  Kids are called many names and so they live up to those negative names sometimes when they should be living up to the true identity name God gave them!

The students were able to watch the movie, "To Save A Life" about these two boys who were best friends until the one year, freshman year of high school, the one friend became a sports star, popular person, who had the girlfriend and everything.  But the truth is...he didn't have everything because he didn't have God.  He realizes this after his childhood friend walked into school one day with a gun and committed suicide.  After his friends funeral, he starts talking to this youth pastor and starts going to church.  He went through some events after his friend passes away and learns a few things about his perfect life that isn't so perfect.  He learns something about his family, his girlfriend, his so called friends, rethinking about the college he wants to go to as soon as he graduates.  God came into his life and changed him.  He became friends with many different students, all students at school making them feel loved and welcome and in the process becomes best friends with a mutual friend to his deceased best friend.  When his life slowly falls apart, he becomes not to friendly towards his new best friend.  This friend goes into depression a bit, gets framed for something at school...so what is this life changer who knows God going to do about this?  Will he save a life?  This is a movie that teens should watch.  It's a movie that teens should watch because things like these events happen and they don't know what to do or they are afraid to show their true identity.  They're afraid to live for God. Why?  We should be comforting those and leading those lost souls to Christ.

These youth are conquerors, strong, chosen, treasured, and alive from Christ.  This is my and their LIFE FORMATION.  We still have 2 weekends left of Winter Retreat and I can't wait to see God move through the speakers, worship band, drama team, etc.  Let this be a Life Formation for all!  Also remember that it is important that we and others have a part to do in our Dreams!!

Rhythm by Rob Bell

This video is what was shown to us our first day of Life Formations!
What does it mean to have a relationship with God? What does it look like? For a lot of us it's a hard thing to understand. If God is an infinite spirit with no shape or form, how can we possibly relate to that? And what about Jesus? He said he came to give everyone life in its fullest. He came to show us how to live. Maybe it's through trusting Jesus and living the kind of life he taught us to live--a life of truth, love, justice, compassion, forgiveness, and sacrifice--that we have a relationship with God. Maybe the way we live every day, every single choice we make, determines how in tune with God we are.

1st real day blogging

Well, today was a pretty good day.  We had an amazing worship & prayer time this morning, praying for the youth and especially at ThEdge!  Praying for the youth...knowing that they have so much to go through with family, friends, school, their faith.  It can be very heartbreaking to hear some of their stories.  I pray they just press on no matter what and love living for the Lord.
Our Principles of Leadership and New Testament classes sound very interesting and can't wait to learn so much from it!
As for Life Formations, I pray my life can be changed in a positive way from this class.  So far I loved the class.  Watching the musical video and knowing that we are reading "Mere Christianity" by C.S. Lewis just excites me!!  I can't wait to really get into reading the book and just furthering my education and my Christian life living for God.
